Industry training in progress
Ferm Engineering Managing Director Steve Burton is a regular presenter at a range of industry seminars, including for AIBS, Jazcorp Australia ADEB, and CPD Solutions.
The most recent was for CPD Solutions on the level of fire safety non-compliance in the building industry and safety in design and sprinkler systems. Steve shared the stage with Sam Hannant, director of Yes Fire and Fire Tanks Australia, and Frank Passmore, general manager of Fire by Design.
Hydraulic designers and fire engineers and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services personnel heard Steve explain what sprinkler and hydrant system designers and installers need to do to ensure National Construction Code compliance and what certifiers should accept in building approvals before signing off on sprinkler and fire system documentation.
Steve welcomes licensing reform for fire certifier class licences that the Queensland Building and Construction Commission is introducing from 1 May 2021.
If you work in certification or strata management, you need to be aware of the licensing scope changes so you know if you are dealing with suitably licensed contractors.
Ferm can assist in peer reviews and audits of designs and fire services work.
The CPD Solutions seminar will be repeated on 29 April by webinar to enable those in regional locations to hear it, including added content about the new licensing reforms.
Ferm is sponsoring the regional seminar as part of the company’s commitment to spreading the word as widely as possible. More details will be on Ferm’s LinkedIn page soon.
