Staff changes at Ferm

Staff changes are afoot at Ferm Engineering.

Fire safety consultant Keith Walton has left the company after 18 years’ service and is embarking on a new business venture. Managing Director Steve Burton thanked Keith for his hard work over so many years and wished him all the best for the future.

James Mackenzie, who has been with Ferm for more than five years, is stepping up from a senior design drafting role into engineering. He is studying mechanical engineering with honours at the University of Southern Queensland.

James has been developing Ferm’s REVIT and BIM software programs for contractors and is an accomplished designer and user of software modelling tools.

Ferm welcomes past intern Kieren Quach, who is completing a structural engineering degree at QUT University, into its mentoring program for students.

Kieren has been learning the AS1170 and AS4100 methods of structural steel fire protection and fire systems modelling using the software programs SPACE GASS and FDS, which are essential tools for modern structural designs.

Kieren is working in a support role for the engineering team.
