A Ferm grasp on quality

Ferm Engineering has always maintained a quality program but is re-evaluating its business processes to also meet the benchmarked quality management system ISO 9001:2015 standard.

Using a risk-based procedural approach, the global standard is used to improve business processes, increase the quality of organisations’ products and services, and satisfy customer expectations and insurance industry demands for quality documentation processes.

CEO Steve Burton said Ferm has partnered with an experienced QA adviser to build on its existing internal QA system by upgrading governance procedures, finance and accounting systems and IT security, and implementing a new work-flow system. The project started in March and is more than 50% completed.

“We’ll invest in new work-flow software and are currently assessing options to decide what’s the best fit for Ferm. Our IT systems and many of the internal documentation methods have been completed,” Steve said.

“We’re keen to build on our continual improvements to internal QA structures to meet external, globally recognised standards.”
