Pathway to compliance

The pathway to building product compliance will be under the spotlight when Ferm Engineering CEO Steve Burton talks at a CPD Solutions online seminar on Thursday 17 September 2020.

The National Construction Code (NCC) puts the onus on suppliers, builders and installers to show evidence that fire products are fit for their intended purpose. Steve will explain the testing and documentation required to ensure compliance under part A5 of the NCC. The seminar is a must for structural engineers, architects and building compliance professionals.

“All those in the supply chain need to ask whether a product has had sufficient testing to demonstrate it is fit for purpose,” Steve said.

All states and territories now have legislation about non-conforming building products and those in the supply chain share responsibility until or unless they can prove they have supplied or used products that are fit for purpose.

Ferm Engineering can assist manufacturers and suppliers with testing regimes to ensure products go to market with accurate specifications on purposes for which products are suited.

“We’re working with multiple testing authorities to ensure new products we assist in developing can achieve final approvals,” Steve said.
