Category:Auditing & Testing
Project Overview
A specialist fire service to review and engineer the move from AFFF foams for mine vehicle protection to satisfy environmental guidelines by the Queensland Government had significant challenges.
Moving to potentially unproven technologies with new foams of Fluorine Free (F3) type was undertaken with research, industry, Chubb Fire and suppliers.
Reporting on methods of design for Pre-Engineered Foam Systems (PEFS) and their ability to perform was undertaken. The ability to roll out the services to such a large fleet also meant studying in the risk to operators and mine operations, part of the team approach by BHP, BMA. Fresh risk studies resulted in better understanding and management techniques for the big Australian.
